Regarding Snowboarding 2016 was a exceptionally successful year. I won three major 4* Freeride Qualifier Competitions, I got second in Les Arcs 4*, I won the 3 * X-Over in Kitzsteinhorn.
As mentioned in another blog post already, I haven’t been at on spot longer than 5 days from the beginning of February till the middle of May. I worked hard, had some really good powder days and great times with friends. At the same time I experienced major changes regarding my view of the world.
I feel a bit sorry, that I missed some of the best days in the season 2016 at home, I wished I had done more serious big mountain riding, while at the same time I know, that the past season was exceptionally difficult. Nevertheless, some of the riders I really admire managed to put down pretty cool lines up high. For example the east face of the Matterhorn in Switzerland skied in May by a women’s team with Mel Presslaber and Lorraine Huber. You can watch a great short movie here.
Or everything Jeremy Heitz archieved in his Film La Liste.
For my development as a snowboarder that means that I’ll be super happy to compete on the Freeride World Tour, but I really hope for snowfalls early in the season, for a good base and then I will take some time later in the season to finally do some of the lines I’ve been looking at since years.
I also wanted to thank my friends, sponsors and especially my family, who keep beeing supportive about that special lifepath I chose.
